100 year old trees face the chop

Several trees at Whitchurch Library Park and Whitchurch Hospital are facing the chop due to disease and rot.Contractors were on both sites today, chopping down horsechestnut trees in Whitchurch Hospital that have been diseased and some at the park that were causing problems with rot.

It’s really sad to see things come to this, I remember climbing the horsechestnut trees as a kid during the conker season.

I’m not sure the middle of the summer holidays is the best time to have contractors taking trees down in the middle of a busy park but that’s the great organisation skills of our beloved council.
