Whitchurch Car Parks

The long announced new parking regulations at both of Whitchurch’s car parks are now in place.

People parking their car at either of the car parks will have a 3 hour restriction from 8am until 7pm monday to saturday.

Anyone staying longer then 3 hours will face a £50 fine. Special CCTV cameras are in force that recognise and register a car number plate when it enters and leaves the car park.

The scheme is to crack down on the number of people using the car park and then commuting into town on the bus. These new regulations should provide the shoppers of Whitchurch adequate parking spaces which is what the car parks were designated for. Many people who work in the village are said to be angered as this leaves them with no where to park their cars when they come to work. I don’t know of anyone directly effected by this yet and if it is a problem then it’s sure to spill out onto the streets, where parking is already causing problems on Merthyr Road, Bishops Road, and Velindre Road. Luckily, we have the councils new parking inforcement officers to deal with the streets!

How do you feel about these new restrictions? Are they a good thing or a bad thing? Have your say with the comments below….
