Site re-launch – Welcome!

Written by Matt   // April 14, 2010   // 7 Comments

Believe it or not this website was launched in 2005 and has served as a community resource and soapbox for local users. The time has now come to launch us to the next level. Time to get excited people!

For every article or news posted here on the site there is the facility for you to post a comment. No registration is required.

For those that have been part of the forums for so long – fear not. They are still here on the top menu or just click on this link: www.mywhitchurch.co.uk/forum.

Using the site should be simple and straight forward. New articles are published and will automatically show up on the front page with the newest at the top. Listed down the right hand side of the site is the Information Column which shows the most recent and most popular posts and comments.

How the site has looked over the years

Further down we have the latest images from the Whitchurch Cardiff group of the Flickr photography website. Below that is a list of upcoming events which you can click on for more information on each event. The “Whats On” button on the very top menu will also list all the events on a single page.

Broken Roads displays the latest reports to our lovely friends at Cardiff Council via the fixmystreet.co.uk website. This site offers anyone the chance to report bad roads, streetlights, signs or anything else that the council are responsible for. The information is then sent to the council, which can be done anonymously.

You can post comments on any of the articles. Either fill in the box with you’re name and email address (which will not be displayed) or you can click the twitter or facebook buttons and log in with your twitter/facebook accounts.

Along the very bottom are areas of interest including local links and the most recent posts from the MyWhitchurch forum, which has been running since 2005!

So that’s it. I hope you find the site useful and you can always keep up to date with what’s happening on our Twitter and Facebook pages. If you have any suggestions for any changes on the site then please feel free to let me know.

Thanks

Matthew Lock

I'm glad you like, I've just noticed there is a problem with something not showing up. Where it says Events and News it should also display several other categories but I think it will fix itself when I get some more articles posted.

    Hi Matt,

Just wanted to say congratulations with the new site launch, I know how much work is involved in this sort of thing. I think a bloggy/news style site like this is much more approachable than the old forum (though I'm glad you're keeping that running too). Hopefully it will encourage more involvement and participation from the less IT oriented Whitchurch residents.

    Cheers,
    Ceri
